SCOTUS Handgun Case Creates Unexpected Union
Don't blink or you might miss it. Conservative and liberal groups have formed an unusual alliance in support of overturning a handgun ban in Chicago and Oak Park, Ill., reports The Wall Street Journal. The case is set to be heard before the U.S. Supreme Court early next month, and is intended to resolve whether the precedent set in the Washington, D.C. handgun decision should also apply to states and local communities.
The Constitutional Accountability Center, a liberal advocacy group, wants to see the Supreme Court overturn the decision in the name of individual rights. The center believes establishing a federal right to self-defense could be applied to any number of scenarios. On the conservative side, Alan Gura, who will give the lead arguments before the court, sees an opportunity to set a precedent in favor of property rights and limited government.
As for the Court, Justice Antonin Scalia remains the greatest mystery. A supporter of Second Amendment rights, he has also stated the following: "Of course ... properly understood, it is no limitation upon arms control by the states."
What do you think? Should states maintain their right to ban handguns where they see fit?

people should not have guns
people should not have guns full stop... there is limited applications to the use of a gun, namely maiming, killing, injuring... why the fuck would anyone want more guns around?
