Olympic Theme Song Boosts Teen to Fame

This morning, as millions of Americans rolled of out of bed and slid on jeans for casual Friday, thousands of athletes from around the world sharpened their skates and skis. Tonight at 6 p.m. marks the opening of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, B.C., on NBC.

But this weekend isn’t just about the athletes. It’s also about one 16-year-old girl from Montreal – the voice behind “I Believe,” the theme song of the Vancouver Olympics for national broadcaster CTV. Nikki Yanofsky, the games’ “first teenage sensation,” has been a rising star since 2006, reported The Washington Post. But “I Believe” has helped launch her career; this spring, Yanofsky will release her first studio album.

Olympic themes are typically popular during the games, but then fade away. However, according to the Post, the young singer thinks “I Believe" may be the exception. After all, it has reach No. 1 status (think Lady GaGa) on Canadian iTunes. “Because of the message of it, it’s not only for the Olympics,” she told the Post. “I guess it’s for everything. Hopefully it can have a life after the Olympics. I think it deserves to.” Yanofsky will sing the song live on CTV on Saturday morning, but check out a preview here!

She deserves this success!

She deserves this success! Amazing song, now I need to find the mp3 of it but this video is a definite keeper for me, just gave me goosebumps as the lyrics are simply superb and yes it has live out of Olympics, infact I think it can easily be called a Peace song as well. 'I think together we'll fly', this line wins me and I am even more happier to see this song coming from the World's best sporting event staged by the most pluralistic country in the world that I know.

Sports has been and will always remain a greatest tool to build bridges between countries and eliminate hatred.

Thank You for this video Megan.
